New Russian Artist Alex Rostotsky and His Amazing Floating Panel Art

Gallery of Music & Art is proud to announce the arrival of new work by: The Artist Alex Rostotsky and his amazing Miles Davis narrative painting! Alex Rostotsky is one of the best Russian electric bass players, expanding the frontiers of traditional jazz. Alex's visual art resonates with the blending of jazz and the glorious cultural infusions of Africa.

Performing music for more than a quarter of a century and the love of visual art has greatly influenced Alex’s music. Complimenting his music, the all consuming passion for a new form of artistic expression is realized in his gallery art.

Alex Rostotsky about this artwork:

A friend of mine loves the music of Miles Dewey Davis III and studies the diverse stylistic features and periods, but is most intrigued in an electric period of Miles’ Bitches Brew album. He asked to study this album from a visual art side and express its quintessence by pictorial means in a painting. This challenging idea was extremely fascinating and I started to explore the work.

By profession I am jazz musician and music can open the imagination new interpretations… I listened intently… And from the mystifying depth of Miles Davis’ sound pictures began to emerge, Davis appeared in his famous pose - just leaning back, playing. Some of my African-American musician friends believe that Miles Davis embraced the heritage of his African origin in his album Bitches Brew, and I agree with them. The theme of Africa is very close to my heart. A tour in Uganda absolutely changed my life. I met other communities, saw the Sun in a new light and experienced absolutely distinctive cultures.

I started to study African cultural material which was enlightening. I attended the special exhibition of Central Africa Art that opened in Moscow, and I was humbled and deeply inspired by everything. I found: new signs, mystical symbolism, curious ornamentation and the incredible colors.

So step by step, insight by insight, I was creating my polyptych in which waves of African vestiges joined with the Universe of Miles Davis including many famous musicians: Wayne Shorter, Bennie Maupin, Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea, John McLaughlin, Dave Holland, Harvey Brooks, Lenny White, Jack DeJohnette, Don Alias, Larry Young, Juma Santos, Billy Cobham, Airto Moreira…

The wonderful artwork realized is composed of 5 floating panels that tell an amazing complex story! A must see in person at Gallery of Music and Art in Las Vegas at the Forum Shops at Caesars Fl3 or check out our online fine art gallery wwww.gma-lv.com.
